Teenage Cancer Trust

Main Contractor: Weaver

Location: Birmingham

Contract Value: £262,000

Completed: 2009

This fantastic project aimed to transform the Teenage Oncology Unit at Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital by creating a new ward with an informal atmosphere and lots of natural light. As well as the building feeling distinctive it was important that every aspect of the design would be efficient with minimal ongoing maintenance requirements. The building has also been recognised by RIBA, winning an award in 2011.

Metclad Contracts worked with a range of suppliers including, Xtralight, DJB Projects, Velfac and Watson Glass. The building’s striking façade was created using Absolute Steel Framing as well as APIC curtain walling.
