The Works

The Works is the latest addition to the Unity Campus, located in Sawston, Cambridgeshire. This modern business space has been designed with connection and collaboration at its core, providing a flexible office space alongside high quality breakout and amenity areas. This 63,000 sq ft building aims to transform Cambridgeshire’s business landscape by uniting like-minded people and businesses all under one roof. Architecturally the building has adopted an industrial aesthetic which suitably plays homage to the work happening inside.

To create the façade, we primarily used 1.0mm aluminium Kalzip 50/429 panels with a PVDF pre-coat in RAL 7012. This panelling was supported using Kalzip’s E100 support clips on 30mm deep steel top hats fixed to a boarded SFS structure. The gable recesses also featured Vertically laid Kingspan Benchmark Evolution Recess 900 flat composite panels comprising of 0.63mm spectrum coated steel outer sheet in colour Basalt Grey (RAL7012), 100mm thick rigid insulation core and 0.4mm bright white steel sheet. Other high-quality suppliers were used including, Nvelope, IKO, Sika and BTS.
