The project:
The new National Rehabilitation Centre on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate is set to open to patients in mid-2025. It is part of the Government approved £105 million plans to create a regional centre of excellence for rehabilitation treatment, teaching and education.
The 70-bed facility is being built alongside the Ministry of Defence rehab centre, and will host a Hydrotherapy pool, prosthetics laboratory and suite of state-of-the-art imaging machines.
The client, IHP wanted to build a sustainable project with environmental impact at the forefront of design.
Our approach:
Our experienced roofing and design team worked closely with the client to ensure that all aspects of design were considered on the different kinds of roof.
We were able to adapt our design details and find a solution to a waterproofing design change, to interface our works with existing products.
Results:
The IKO Permatec Hot Melt system was installed on the main building roof, finished with a river washed ballast and concrete pavers. This system has a proven track record of durability and long-term performance, as well as creating an aesthetically pleasing finish.
The smaller pavilion roofs required a green roof system to further support IHP’s environmental pledge. We fitted an Eco Green Roof system, with a 60mm Biodiverse substrate and EGR Sedum Blanket finish which will attract and sustain a diverse range of wildlife species.
Metclad’s team worked hard to ensure that our works were completed on time, and within budget.
